This course includes all of the units in CHC40213 Certificate IV in Education Support and two units from the Bachelor of Education. Upon completion of the qualification and the additional bachelor degree units, graduates will gain entry into the Bachelor of Education (Primary) or the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary).

Entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent including English
  • language, literacy and numeracy skills at an appropriate level to complete the course.

Placement requirements

Students are required to complete 120 hours of practical placement. The students are encouraged to find suitable schools for their placements. Students will not achieve competency in a unit until the allocated placement hours have been completed and verified by the workplace supervisor and the ACU assessor.

A current Police Check and Working with Children Check is also required.

Possible career paths include:

  • education support worker in a special school
  • education support worker in primary or secondary schools
  • support worker in before or after school care
  • pathways to Bachelor of Education at ACU leading to a teaching qualification.

Graduates who satisfy the following conditions of competency in all 17 units of the CHC40213 Certificate IV in Education Support course with ACU College and successfully complete a minimum of 100 hours of practical placement and obtain a minimum pass in two units from courses listed in agreement table according to State undertaken as part of the Certificate IV in Education Support [Pathway]; maybe considered for a place in the following programs:

  1. The Bachelor of Education (Primary);
  2. The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary); and
  3. The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five Years).
