THCP105 - Prayer and Liturgy
Incompatible THCP200 Prayer and Liturgy
Teaching Organisation This unit involves 150 hours of focused learning. The total includes formally structured learning activities such as lectures, tutorials, online learning, video-conferencing, or supervision. The remaining hours typically involve reading, research, and the preparation of tasks for assessment.
Prayer and liturgy are central to the Christian life as the chief means by which Christians express and nourish their faith. This unit will explore the meaning and purpose of prayer and liturgy utilising the Church's official liturgical books, focusing in particular on the celebration of the Eucharist. It will investigate various official and unofficial types of Christian prayer (including popular piety, devotions, and the Liturgy of the Hours), and will study how to prepare and adapt liturgical celebrations for different groups (such as children) and different cultural contexts.
