Students are introduced to the fundamental principles of ethical practice in the exercise science profession. An understanding of ethical and legal issues faced in exercise science practice and research are addressed. The research process is introduced, and the importance of transparency and completeness in the dissemination of knowledge is emphasised, in the context of meeting the requirements of moral and social expectations; this includes the respectful recruitment and treatment of participants and confidentiality of data. Fundamental principles of quantitative experimental design, skills in reading and critically evaluating research, and appropriate statistical analyses for Exercise Science research are also addressed.
